Umeå Institute of Technology is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology. The Institute offers a wide range of study programmes, some of them not to be found in any other part of the country. The engineering programmes have become increasingly important within the faculty and today the majority of new students are admitted to these programmes. Research in engineering is gradually being expanded as a result of strategic efforts. The faculty´s traditionally strong position in natural sciences form a base on which new technology research is buildt.
